Chronic Disease Management
It can feel overwhelming when your pet is initially diagnosed with a chronic health condition, but we’re here to help.
Services
We aim to help you prepare your new puppy or kitten for a long and healthy life; by looking at them holistically, we can help minimise avoidable health problems as they grow into adulthood and old age.
During your consultation, we’ll support you with some of the most important decisions you’ll ever have to make regarding preventative health care for your pet. All the advice you receive will be individualised for your pet and will include:
It’s never too late to start a holistic lifestyle; these measures, even for your adult pet, can still slow down or prevent the onset of chronic diseases such as arthritis as they age. We will give you evidence-based holistic advice about common health concerns that may affect your pet, such as weight gain, diet, dental care, parasite prevention and vaccination protocols. As with our young patients, we will tailor our advice to your pet.
Old age isn’t a disease, but regular wellness monitoring becomes essential as your pet enters their senior years. We can assess your pet for chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis and recommend timely lifestyle changes and dietary supplementation. Regular, six to twelve-monthly blood tests also become important; they help us detect underlying conditions such as thyroid and kidney disease. Early detection of illness doesn’t mean we can “cure” your pet, but it does allow us to help you make the rest of their lives as comfortable as possible.
With so many commercial pet foods on the market, deciding what's best for your pet can be challenging. While plenty of super premium quality foods are available for our pets, the optimal diet, regardless of its form, is the best one you can afford on your budget. If you have any questions regarding what to feed your new puppy or kitten, please ask us. We can provide you with a list of recommended foods that will be the best you can buy, whatever your price point.
If you want to make your pet a raw food diet, we can help you by formulating a complete and balanced diet.
Remember - a good quality, nutritionally balanced and life-stage appropriate diet will help your pet lead a healthy, complete and long life.
