Chronic Disease Management

It can feel overwhelming when your pet is initially diagnosed with a chronic health condition, but we’re here to help.

We use holistic medicine to identify underlying issues and treat the whole animal when caring for a pet with a chronic health complaint.

When you visit us, we will provide you with a comprehensive Chronic Illness Management Plan to help navigate your pet’s condition and treatment.

Examples of the conditions we can help you manage using holistic medicine and the types of treatments available include:

Osteoarthritis and Chronic Pain
  • Western Herbal Medicine, such as prescription CBD oil and anti-inflammatory herbs.
  • Traditional Western pharmaceutical pain relief, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatories.
  • Dietary supplementation eg. essential fatty acids and joint “foods” like glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM.
  • Weight loss management.
  • Laser therapy.
  • Reduced weight-bearing exercise in our underwater treadmill.
  • A regular home assessment of your pet’s pain levels is recommended for dog and cat owners.  The following links provide examples of how to assess your pet’s pain level.

Cancer
  • We can help you support your pet with cancer whether they are under the care of a specialist Veterinary Oncologist or you want to palliate them.

  • If an Oncologist is treating your pet with radiotherapy or chemotherapy, we can assist you with therapies that will complement their current treatment.

  • Depending on your pet’s cancer type and treatment, we can use a range of herbal and nutritional supplements that may help improve the quality of their life, promote remission and prolong survival time.
