Dentistry

Good dental hygiene is essential for your pet’s overall health.  Preventing and treating dental disease can help us avoid other chronic illnesses, such as heart and kidney disease, which are often associated with the same types of bacteria that we find in the mouth.

We can use a range of measures to help you maintain your pet’s oral health, such as:

  • dietary advice to help prevent dental disease

  • radiology (X-ray) to look for hidden dental disease

  • prophylactic scale and polish

  • extraction of diseased teeth.

We do not endorse anaesthesia-free dentistry performed by non-registered Veterinary Surgeons or lay people. Your animal’s welfare is paramount.  Proper assessment and treatment of dental disease cannot be performed while your pet is conscious.  Anaesthesia-free dentistry has the potential to impact the welfare of any pet treated this way negatively. It may result in long-term psychological and behavioural issues and worsen any existing dental disease.
